About

R.J. Spears is an award winning crime/mystery and horror writer. He graduated from Ohio State University with a degree in cinema production and went on to work around the Midwest including stints in Wisconsin and Indiana before returning to Ohio in 2003.

In 1998, his story, "Skeletons Out of the Closet," took second place in the Indianapolis Murder and Mayhem short story contest. Over the next few years, he wrote off-and-on but decided in 2007 to spend more time writing working on a novel but it wasn't until 2011 that he decided to devote more time to short stories. His first short story was released in late 2011, Home Schooling, on A Twist of Noir.

After spending much of his time writing mystery and crime fiction, he decided to try his hand at writing horror. His first horror story, The Dark Child, was published in the Horror Zone.

He is currently at work on a zombie apocalypse novel, "Sanctuary from the Dead." It is expected to be released in June 2013.
